A useful fit for

A flat-only setup that deliberately prefers REP's 13.75-in Wide pad, tripod base, transport wheels and 1,000-lb maker-stated rating. The listed height is 16.9 in; storage off the floor requires the separate compatible wall hanger.

The main tradeoff

At 74 lb, the Wide configuration is 12 lb heavier than the Narrow option. Its wider top will not suit every lifter, the bench has no incline or decline adjustment, and an optional wall hanger requires suitable installation. The maker-stated rating does not establish an independent test.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

What does Wide change on the FB-5000?

REP lists a 13.75-in Wide pad (also rounded to 14 in in descriptive copy), compared with 12 in for Narrow, and a 74-lb bench versus 62 lb. The outer dimensions and 7.36-sq-ft listed footprint are the same. Confirm the Wide selector and FB-5052 family; the shared default Metallic Black thumbnail does not prove pad width.

Can the FB-5000 Wide roll or be stored off the floor?

REP lists wheels and a steel handle for moving the bench. The base bench has no documented integrated vertical stand. REP's separate Wall Mounted Flat Bench Hanger is compatible with flat benches and stores them off the floor; check wall construction, mounting location and that the hanger is actually included in your purchase.

Does the Wide bench have a higher rating than Narrow?

No such difference is listed: REP states 1,000 lb for both FB-5000 pad configurations. Treat the number as a manufacturer claim, not an independent test or proof of a shared testing protocol.

Is the wide pad automatically a better fit?

No. REP supplies a 13.75-in Wide option but that measurement alone cannot predict comfort, range of motion or shoulder support for an individual. Compare the Narrow 12-in option and assess the exact top if pad width is an essential fit requirement.

The FB-5000 Competition Flat Bench, Wide Pad configuration retains the fixed, flat-only tripod frame of the FB-5000 family but changes the lifter-contact surface and handling weight. REP lists a 13.75-inch wide pad (rounded to 14 inches in descriptive copy), 74-pound bench mass, 16.9-inch height, and a 50.5-by-21-inch outer envelope. Its published use footprint is 7.36 square feet and its stated capacity is 1,000 pounds. These are manufacturer claims, not measured results or a third-party competition approval.

Wide is not a finish or angle variant

The product selector combines seven frame finishes with Narrow and Wide pad choices, creating separate FB-5002 and FB-5052 SKU families. Wide has a 13.75-inch pad, compared with 12 inches for Narrow. The product page describes a four-inch thick high-density CleanGrip top on the same 3-by-3-inch, 11-gauge steel frame; no incline or decline adjustment is described. A wider pad may be worth comparing for someone deliberately seeking the larger contact surface, but its nominal width cannot predict comfort or shoulder fit for a particular lifter. Measure and, when possible, assess the exact pad before deciding.

REP's feed associates the default Metallic Black thumbnail with both Narrow and Wide, so that shared image does not prove the selected pad. The image here is the official Red/Wide variant: its dedicated product-data record names it “Wide Red FB-5000 bench” and maps it only to the FB-5052-RED variant. The selected product page and SKU family confirm that Wide is a distinct option; the image is a manufacturer reference in Red, not a promise that every color has identical pictured details. Check the Wide label and exact FB-5052 SKU in the final offer.

The added pad width has a handling cost

REP lists the Wide configuration at 74 pounds, 12 pounds heavier than the 62-pound Narrow version, while keeping the same listed overall dimensions, use footprint and 1,000-pound capacity. Both versions have a tripod foot layout that REP says keeps the feet out of the way for leg drive, plus a steel handle and industrial wheels for repositioning. Wheels help on an appropriate floor but do not eliminate the need to carry a bench over a threshold or manage the heavier Wide frame. Check your route, storage place and rack geometry using the real base shape; the “competition” name and 16.9-inch listed height do not validate a full meet setup.

The Wide pad choice is separate from movement range. It remains a flat bench, so selecting the broader pad will not supply incline or decline. If those positions matter, compare an adjustable model and verify how its pad shape and restraint package differ. The narrower FB-5000 version is the direct comparison if you want the same general frame style with the 12-inch pad and 62-pound listed weight. The FB-3000 is smaller and lighter on paper but has a four-leg base and lower 700-pound maker rating; it is not the same platform.

Storage is optional; capacity remains a maker statement

REP offers the Wall Mounted Flat Bench Hanger as a separate compatible add-on for its flat benches. It stores the bench off the floor in a vertical wall-mounted position, but it is not included in the base Wide package. The hanger's page says it mounts to studs or concrete and uses 16-inch-spaced holes with hardware included. Before relying on it, confirm the wall, location, height and lifting route, as well as the exact accessory in the order. Do not treat the wheels or handle as an integrated storage stand.

The 1,000-pound figure is REP's stated capacity. The reviewed materials do not give an independent test protocol or explain every user's bodyweight-plus-barbell calculation. Ask the manufacturer how it applies to your use and follow the current manual. A high rating does not resolve pad fit, room fit, or the absence of adjustable angles.

Who should compare this configuration?

The Wide FB-5000 is a candidate to examine when you want a fixed flat bench and intentionally prefer the maker's 13.75-inch pad option. Consider the 74-pound mass, exact finish/SKU and separate hanger before purchase. This review interprets REP's U.S. product page, official variant data, specific Wide-option source page, and bench guide; no ownership, physical test or customer-experience claim is made. Because the shared default thumbnail does not distinguish pad width, use the selector and SKU—not the generic gallery image—as the package check.
